Vale – Mark Lonnon

Western Suburbs Magpies are mourning the loss of Mark ‘Lonno’ Lonnon who passed away suddenly last weekend.

Lonno, 30 years was a strong defender who played for Western Suburbs Magpies in the juniors and seniors. Lonno transitioned from the juniors through the under 18’s in 2004. That year he won the best and fairest as a 17 year old polling 50 votes. The following year he captained the under 18’s in 2005.

Lonno, played 41 senior games for the club before moving to Newcastle City Blues mid-way through the 2011 Season. Lonno went on to play 67 games for the Blues.

Lonno was a treasured player by not only his teammates but also his opponents and exhibited the Wests way of asserting himself at every challenge whether that was on the football field or in life.

Western Suburbs Magpies sends its heartfelt condolences to the Lonnon family and all of Mark’s friends.

Mark’s funeral will be held next Thursday, 28th of December 2017 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Leopold St, Ashbury commencing at 11am.
